Bill de Blasio, who took office as the mayor of New York City at the beginning of this year, will be delivering the keynote address at the opening session of Internet Week New York on May 19.
Although growing the tech industry was part of his economic platform, de Blasioâs administration says this will be his âfirst major address to the tech community,â and that heâll use the keynote to discuss his plans.
âTechnology is one of New York Cityâs most vibrant and vital industries, which is why Iâm honored to outline my Administrationâs plans to bolster the cityâs tech sector at Internet Week New York,â de Blasio said in the release announcing his speech.
Internet Week New York was founded in 2008.
